What questions do you have about GarliMax? Below is a list of some of the most common questions asked about this good product.

Q. Why should I take GarliMax?

A. Studies show garlic to be beneficial for the cardiovascular and immune systems. Garlic may be helpful for people looking to maintain healthy cholesterol and blood pressure.*

Q. How do I take GarliMax?

A. Take one enteric-coated tablet a day, preferably with food.

Q. How much garlic is in one tablet?

A. One tablet is triple concentrated to contain the equivalent of 1650 mg fresh garlic„that's more than two whole cloves!

Q. I take other medications can I take GarliMax?

A. If you are taking medication, be safe; check with your doctor or pharmacist. This is particularly important for individuals taking blood-thinning medication, including Dipyridamole, Ticlopidine, and Warfarin. Do not take with diabetes medication because it may cause a decrease in blood sugars. Garlic may also reduce the absorption of Chlorzoxazone (used to treat acute painful muscle conditions). Do not take garlic supplements with the anti-HIV drug, saquinavir, (Fortovase®/Invirase¬) as absorption of this drug may be significantly reduced.

Q. I have allergies. Can I take GarliMax?

A. Whey, a protein found in milk, is an ingredient in GarliMax and can provoke an allergic reaction in those individuals who are allergic to it. Please note that an allergy to whey is not the same thing as lactose intolerance, which is the inability to break down dairy sugars. GarliMax tablets do not contain lactose.

Q. Who should not take GarliMax?

A. If you are pregnant, nursing a baby, or under a doctor’s care for a medical condition, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking GarliMax. Due to its blood thinning effect, it is currently recommend that patients discontinue garlic supplementation 1 to 2 weeks before anesthesia and surgery.

Q. What are Thiosulfinates?

A. Thiosulfinates are a group of sulfur-based compounds that appear as allicin begins to breakdown. Allicin is a rather short-lived compound. After the alliin and allinase combine to form allicin, the allicin begins to convert into numerous other substances, such as diallyl disulfides and trisulfides. These byproducts of the allicin breakdown are responsible for some of garlic's beneficial effects.

Q. What are Gamma Glutamylcysteines?

A. Gamma Glutamylcysteines (GCCs) are precursors to alliin. During storage and sprouting, GGCs can increase the amount of alliin already found in the garlic bulbs. GGCs also have an impact on the thiosulfinates.

Q. I've heard that Allicin in garlic supplements is destroyed by heat and stomach acids.

A. It is true that beneficial garlic compounds, such as Allicin, can be destroyed by heat processing, as well as by stomach acids. GarliMax tablets, however use garlic that is cold processed, and the tablets are enteric coated so that they safely pass through the stomach where they can be absorbed by the small intestine.

Q. Some garlic tablet manufacturers say that Allicin causes oxidative damage. Is this true?

A. Consumption as high as 10 grams per day of raw garlic–much more than the amount found in GarliMax–is considered safe.* The oxidative damage claim is a pr/marketing statement with NO studies to back it up.

Q. Does GarliMax contain carbohydrates?

A. Garlic, by nature, contains a small amount of carbohydrates. A garlic extract contains even less. A 550mg GarliMax tablet contains too few carbohydrates to be listed on the label; far less than the one gram required by the FDA.

Q. Does it matter what time of day I take GarliMax?

A. GarliMax may be taken at any time. Taking GarliMax with food may reduce the risk of bloating or upset stomach in sensitive individuals.
